We are in the homestretch of 2020. I know you might be feeling a little ragged this year, but it’s time to take a good hard look at the past 11 months. Then with a new, clear vision, make a plan of attack for 2021. If you want to know how to crush your goals in 2021, listen closely.
Girl, you MUST reassess the past 11 months with brutal honesty and total accountability. You cannot make excuses or play the blame game. Be honest with yourself and look at where you fell short of your goals and why.
But there is no reason to beat yourself up. We aren’t into self-flagellation. We are all about empowerment! So be honest but kind. Learn from your mistakes, become aware of where you went wrong, and take note.
If there are areas that you feel no longer represent who you want to be going forward, write that down. Look at why that is. If you need to tweak and make changes or if you need to let it go-even if it had been near and dear to your heart. Things change, business changes, people change. It’s ok to let things go if it just isn’t working out.
Prepare and Plan
Phase Two. Plan out your One-Year Goals, then break them down into bite-sized chunks. What will you accomplish each quarter? Then take each quarter goal and make actionable steps for each month with deadlines.
If you don’t have a planner, get you one. You have to SEE your goals, see your deadlines to know they exist.
Which brings me to the next step, visualization. Every night before bed, visualize yourself accomplishing everything you set your mind to. Go through the steps as well as the end results. Perfect it in your mind, and then make it a reality. Don’t you know you’re a SUPERSTAR?!!
What You Need
Crushing your goals and the year ahead takes tools and specific attributes. The tools include things like totally awesome planners, timer apps, project management tools like Asana and Trello, and CRMs to manage your clients.
You need the right tools for the job, so make sure you are prepared. For the attributes required to crush 2021, well, let’s take a look.
How do you crush your goals in 2021? You have to be productive. Don’t confuse this with busy. Kick an anthill over, and they run around very, very busy BUT all confused. But when they’re on a mission to bring back food, they’re like a well-oiled machine. Have a mission and work towards it.
Time-blocking and using a Pomodoro app are excellent ways to keep on track and make the most of your time.
You have to be consistent. You can’t show up just when you feel like it, when the mood strikes you, or on Tuesdays when the wind is blowing just right.
You have to show up for those FB lives when you look and feel like crap because your audience expects you to. You have to blog every Tuesday because that’s when readers expect you to show up. Do not be wishy-washy! It’s ok to be a hot mess, just be consistent and show up.
Being productive and being consistent takes self-discipline. It takes willpower, and it’s not always easy. Making a commitment to yourself and honoring your agreement is essential. Be authentic and true to your word. Try Mel Robbins 5-Second Rule if things seem undoable.
